Monsoon is synonymous with abundance of wildflowers. They create a riot of colours in the bright green as they bloom and fruit profusely in the short monsoon season to complete their life cycles. We are lucky to find several species here in Mumbai itself! These include a range of lilies such as Crinum lilies, Glory Lily, Hill turmeric, Pancratiums and more. Besides, this is also the time the local vegetable vendors sell wild vegetables such as wild yam, kantoli, cockscomb, pot cassia and other range of leafy vegetables; all these only grow in the wild and only during monsoon.
To learn all fascinating facts about these monsoon special lilies, iNaturewatch Foundation has organized a short trail. The path is undulating and terrain is covered with range of monsoon special plants, the trail ends with waterfall view.
So, join us to witness these lovely lilies before they are gone with the heavy rains!
